Pinch Valves

  1. Corflex Pinch Valves are totally manufactured in South Africa.
  2. All Corflex STD, HD & XHD Pinch Valve Sleeves 150mm and larger are pressure tested to twice the recommended working pressure with an excess of 3:1 safety factor. A serial number is on the sleeves and an Inspection and Test Certificate is supplied for each sleeve.
  3. Corflex Sleeves have a straight through flow with no obstructions or shapes which might cause turbulence within the sleeve which could create wear in the sleeve or downstream of the valves. Corflex Sleeves can be operated many thousands of cycles without failure irrespective of pressure. The Corflex sleeves have a high abrasion resistant natural rubber liner and are suitable for temperatures up to 80°C and short intervals of 85°C, high temperature sleeves are available for up to 120°C. Other type liners available for different applications. Corflex sleeves are treated with anti-oxidants and anti-ozoneants which prevents deterioration of the sleeve if used in open frames
  4. The Corflex STD, HD & XHD valve casings are cast in ductile iron to SABS 936 Grade 42. AMERICAN: ASTM A536 60-40-18 BRITISH: BS2789 420-12 SOUTH AFRICAN: SABS936 SG42 GERMAN: DIN1693 GGG40 Valves of 400mm and larger are fabricated.
  5. Test certificates for castings are available if requested.
  6. Corflex STD, HD & XHD Non-Rising Spindles (Sizes 200mm and larger) on hand wheel operated valves are manufactured from steel to BS 970 Grade 070M55, a U.T.S of between 600 Mpa and 700 Mpa. EN 9, Heat treatment-liquid Nitriding, result in a hardwearing resistance casing 0.1mm deep, 58-60 Rockwell Hardness.
  7. Pinch Valves require high forces to close and seal. These forces increase greatly with size and pressure. Pincher mechanisms are very strongly built and use a non-rising actuation. Rising pincher mechanisms are considered unsuitable as they basically rely on two nuts to hold the pincher mechanism together. Failure of one or both nuts could have serious consequences. This type of actuation also has a tendency to rock and possibly jam.
  8. In high pressure applications hydraulic actuation is preferred. The hydraulic cylinders are trunnion mounted.
  9. Corflex specification for painting is:
    1. Castings are sandblasted and painted with a coat of red oxide etch primer.
    2. After machining the valves are cleaned and painted with two coats of Hammertone enamel.
  10. The operation of Corflex Pinch Valves is tested before supply to site.
